At the village of Bramousse, take the dirt road going up to the right at the parking area. Take this trail to reach the GR 58 in a hairpin bend (red and white markings) that will lead you to the foot of the high pasture chalets of Bramousse. Up to the 1950's, the inhabitants of Bramousse went there from June to September. Stay on the GR 58 until you reach the last chalets, then go on to the Col of Bramousse (still on the GR 58). This pass will give you a magnificent view of the valley of Ceillac. The itinerary goes through a meadow along the spring up to the edge of the wood. You will be able to observe the marmots that have settled in the high pastures. Take the straight open forestry trail that leads through the forest under the larches and the pines. The trail goes along the edge of the forest again and leads to the Sagnes. Many springs are scattered in this place giving a peculiar aspect to the landscape. It is a large dell with luxuriant vegetation covering the grounds and some sparse trees. After a few bends, you will reach the col of Bramousse and discover the dell of the Cristillan. Then, to go on to col Fromage, backtrack for about 10 min and take the trail (with a yellow marking) going up right towards the col of Souillet. From the pass, follow the trail along the mountainside up to col Fromage. From col Fromage, go on the GR 5 (red and white markings) to col of the Prés Fromage for 300 m. Then, take the GR 58 (red and white markings) going down the left to the Vallon of the Riou Vert. Once you have reached the forestry trail, cross it and keep on the GR 58 to the footbridge that you will also cross and take the alternative to the GR 58 up to Bramousse.
Two alternatives are possible. The first will lead you to discover a natural curiosity, the larch of Bramousse, from the chalets of Bramousse (see the itinerary "Bramousse - the Mélèze of Bramousse" on this website). Another alternative will lead you directly from the chalets of Bramousse to the col Fromage without passing by the col Bramousse (see the itinerary "Bramousse - Col Fromage" on this website).
"HIKING, On foot in the Guillestrois – Great WALKS" - Guidebook sold in tourism offices in the area.
There is a parking area on the flat ground to the right of the meadow, at the other end of the village. From the village of Bramousse, after the last houses, the itinerary starts on the dirt road to the right.
