Departure : Aerodrome de Saint-Crepin → Arrival : Aerodrome de Saint Crepin

This route is physical, but not technical, and only follows rolling paths among larch forests leading to the Lauzet Lake, a superb mountain lake. The return descent follows a path in the heart of the Grangettes valley via the pretty hamlet of Champaussel with a magnificent view of the Durance valley.

From the Saint-Crépin aerodrome, cross the 'white' bridge over the Durance and before the main road, use the underpass to cross over to Saint-Crépin. At the road junction, head up to the left to the centre of the village than take the road to the right that goes past the cemetery and heads up towards Le Villard. In the village, go past the chapel and take the path up to the right. After several bends, it links up to the agricultural route to Moussière. The first kilometres leading to these chalets are quite steep (500 m incline)! From Moussière, the path is not as steep and heads into the larch woods. The path goes off to the left in a hairpin bend to the right. This path leads to the Grangettes valley. From here, it crosses the stream, follows the road for several metres downstream and then turns right towards the Adroit chalets. Continue between two houses on a superb path that leads to Chapaussel. Above the hamlet of Champaussel take the mule trail that leads to the village of Pra Reboul. From Pra Reboul take the underpass to cross the main road and the rail road and then join a small path immediately to the left in the flood plain, cross the Pra Reboul stream and for the wide path that leads back to Saint-Crépin. It is possible to continue the route to do a return trip to the Lauzet lake. Take the initial itinerary down the forestry trail in the opposite direction and in the hairpin bend left, continue the route by heading down to the right to reach the Grangettes valley. This alternative will take 90 minutes there and back and has no technical difficulty (forestry trail) but has an incline of roughly 600 m.

Variant

It is possible to continue the route to do a return trip to the Lauzet lake. Take the initial itinerary down the forestry trail in the opposite direction and in the hairpin bend left, continue the route by heading down to the right to reach the GrangettesៈᐌṴ쉤ៈº

Winery 1

Walking down the Rue de l’Archevêché both old entrance gates can be seen, you will notice many beautifully carved stones some depicting vines, grapes and leaves and also homes that formerly served as wineries like this one. The winery housed the wine press, the tank, barrels and utensils necessary for growing grapes and making wine. Most were built in the 16th and 17th centuries. They are privately owned and not open to visitors.

Saint-Crepin Mill

The old mill is still a beautiful building but it cannot be visited, as it is privately owned. Water was diverted from the canal to drive the turbines, which then set in motion the wheels. Grain or nuts could be ground – with no mill there was no miller, with no miller there was no flour or oil, the mill was a vital part of life in the mountains.
