Departure : Val d'Escreins → Arrival : Source de la Font-Sancte

Wild and bright, the Val d'Escreins is like the Rif-Bel stream whose waters are sometimes calm, sometimes turbulent but always limpid at the bottom of the valley.

The trail starts at the Val d'Escreins carpark. Cross over the Rif-Bel and turn right towards "Font-Sancte". At the panel, take the right bank going up the Rif-Bel. Walk through the pasturelands and the softwood forest to reach the “ColetteVerte” trail. The trail goes on into the undergrowth alongside the stream that you cross by the second wooden footbridge. After going up the meadow, go past the col des Houerts trail on the right and climb up the slope. Here, you will have the opportunity to see a splendid Swiss pine that has been sculpted and tormented over time. After crossing the stream again, the itinerary leads up to the end of the wood and reaches the oratory. After the oratory, the trail reaches a pebbly cove and crosses the stream once more to continue alongside the edge of the limestone ridge where the Rif-Bel has its source (round trip by the same itinerary).

Village d'Escreins
